Rajasekhar recollects a pleasant memory from yesteryear
In 1988, a Malayalam movie called ‘Oru CBI Diary Kurippu’ was released and became an instant success at the box office. The thriller was the highest-grossing Malayalam film at that time and had Mammootty in the lead role. Telugu actor Rajasekhar was so impressed by the film that he wished to remake it in Telugu. However, much to his disappointment, he learnt that the remake rights had already been acquired by Chiranjeevi’s brother-in-law Allu Aravind. Assuming that the remake would be made with Chiranjeevi, the Allari Priyudu actor did not pursue the matter any further.
However, much to his stupefaction, when Rajasekhar later met Aravind at an event, he was offered the remake rights to the film. Laughingly, Aravind clarified, “Chiranjeevi loved the film a lot but he does not have the dates to do this film, so he suggested your name.” An elated Rajasekhar then asked Aravind to thank Chiranjeevi on his behalf.
The movie was remade in Telugu as Nyayam Kosam and directed by Raviraja Pinisetty. Seetha played the female lead in the movie, with Sudhakar and Brahmanandam in other vital roles. Rajasekhar recalled this incident in a recent interaction with the media.
