The 69-year-old actor-director breathed his last in Chennai
Renowned actor Pratap Pothen breathed his last in his Chennai apartment. The 69-year-old actor-director was found dead at his Kilpauk residence. Known for his effective dialogue delivery and essaying roles to their perfection, Pratap, who predominantly worked in the Malayalam film industry, has also acted in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi films.
Having worked in over 100 movies as an actor, Pratap also lent his hand to directing a dozen films. One such film he helmed was Nagarjuna’s Chaitanya (1991). Some of his notable works in Telugu cinema as an actor include Aakali Rajyam, Yevade Subramanyam, Chukkallo Chandrudu, and Pushpaka Vimanamu, among others.
The Telugu audience last saw Pratap in Nayanthara-starrer Vasantha Kalam while his last project as an actor is the unreleased film Barroz which has Mohanlal in the lead. Initial investigations by the Police believe that the actor passed away due to natural causes. While Pratap has left the mortal world, his roles in movies such as ‘Bangalore Days’, ‘Ayalum Njanum Thammil’, ‘22 Female Kottayam’, and ‘Uyare’ will remain eternal.
