Venu Udugula also revealed that Rana's character in Virata Parvam is in fact inspired by a real person Director Venu Udugula is quite confident about his forthcoming film Virata Parvam which is releasing in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam languages on June 17. Starring Rana Daggubati and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles, the movie reportedly revolves around the Naxalite movement that took place in the 1990s in Telangana region. Rana plays the role of a naxalite leader named ‘Ravanna’. This gave rise to speculation whether Rana’s character was based on that of Paritala Ravi, a factionist and politician who went on to become a Minister in the State Cabinet before eventually succumbing to an assassination attempt in 2005. Venu clarified that there is absolutely no relation to Rana’s character and the life of Paritala Ravi. “The name is just a coincidence, something that was chosen randomly. Rana’s character was actually inspired by a person called Shankaranna, based in Nizamabad," said Venu.
