The 82-year-old actor passed away this morning at 9:45 am at a private hospital in Jubilee Hills. He was being treated for heart-related health issues.Survived by his wife Jalandhara and two daughters, Chandra Mohan's funeral is said to be held on Monday, November 13. Born as Mallampalli Chandrasekhara Rao on May 23, 1941, in Pamidimukkala village, Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, Chandra Mohan was actively involved in theatre during his school and college years, but he never had the intention of joining the film industry. After completing his education, Chandra Mohan began working in the agriculture department, while still taking part in stage plays.On the persistence of his brother-in-law, Chandra Mohan began his journey in cinema by auditioning for a role in an unknown film and went back to his routine. After a month, Chandra Mohan received an opportunity to play one of the lead roles in the legendary filmmaker BN Reddy’s film Rangula Ratnam (1966). He earned immense acclaim for his performance in the film and also won the ‘Nandi Award for Best Actor’. Chandra Mohan never looked back since then and went on to play a wide variety of lead and supporting roles in more than 900 films in the Telugu and Tamil cinema. He is also the cousin of the legendary filmmaker K Vishwanath.Some of the notable films of Chandra Mohan include Sukha Dukhalu, Jeevana Tarangalu, O Seetha Katha, Padaharella Vayasu, Pranam Khareedu, Siri Siri Muvva, Sankarabharanam, Ram Robert Raheem, Chandamama Raave, Sri Shirdi Saibaba Mahathyam, Aditya 369, Chandralekha, Athanokkade, Krishna, and Kandireega. The award-winning actor also ventured into television and appeared in a couple of television serials, including Gangatho Rambabu.
