‘Varisu’ and ‘Vaarasudu’ will release on different dates
Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Varisu’, releasing in Telugu as Vaarasudu, was supposed to be released on January 12, 2023. The film’s Telugu and Tamil versions were expected to hit the theatres on the same day, with premiere shows in the USA scheduled for January 11.
In a last-minute surprise, the makers announced a change in the release date. ‘Varisu’ will now be released on January 11, 2023, a day earlier than planned. Recent reports suggested the Telugu version of the movie ‘Vaarasudu’ will not be released on that day. ‘Vaarasudu’ was speculated to be delayed to prevent a clash with the other big releases in Telugu Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy. Makers of the movies have been engaged in a race to secure theatres to release their flicks because the Sankranti weekend is a big crowd-puller.
The rumours have been debunked by a trusted source who confirmed that ‘Vaarasudu’ and ‘Varisu’ will release on the same day. However, the single-day preponement has created confusion. The premiere shows in the US have to be shifted to January 10, but bookings are yet to open. Ajith Kumar’s ‘Thunivu’ (Tegimpu in Telugu), which is also set to release on January 11 will be locked in stiff competition with ‘Varisu’ in both Tamil and Telugu.
