The actress talked about how ‘Adipurush’ will be educational for children
Om Raut directorial Adipurush starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon has been embroiled in controversy since the release of the film’s teaser. It received immense backlash for the quality of visual effects and for the changes it made to its original source material, ‘Ramayana’. The film’s release date was delayed to redo the VFX and make changes based on the feedback to the teaser. Now, Adipurush’s lead actress opened up about the film in a recent media interaction.
“It is important to make these stories. It is educational for kids,” Kriti said. She further admitted to not having seen Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayana’ when it aired on Doordarshan. She continued, “I feel that if I had not seen it then, today’s children would also not have seen it. I feel that visual memory is way stronger than anything else. The best way to make kids know this story I to have it imprinted int heir minds; it is important to watch it.”
Further talking about the criticism ‘Adipurush’ makers received for making changes to the source material, Kriti said, “If you are getting it out now after so many years, that same story also needs to relate to the audience it is catering to.” Some of the notable changes seen in the teaser are King Raavana (Saif Ali Khan) wearing a leather jacket and riding on a bat instead of Pushpaka Vimana and Lord Rama (Prabhas) shooting the arrows straight into zombie-like creatures, which are meant to represent demons.
‘Adipurush’ is slated to release on June 16, 2023. Reportedly, the film’s VFX are being heavily altered post the criticism received on the teaser. The final VFX will not only be of better quality, but significant changes from the teaser can be expected.
