Shah Rukh Khan speaks about changing storytelling in a press conference for ‘Pathaan’Pathaan marks Shah Rukh Khan’s return to the silver screen in a full-fledged role after a break of 4 years. The film co-starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, released to untethered hype and has already grossed more than Rs 400 crore at the worldwide box office and is continuing to amass more. At a recent press conference for the film, the ‘Baadshah of Bollywood’ spoke about cinema blurring religious differences. Further, he spoke of how the everchanging storytelling is not an attempt to deride culture. Rather, it is a means to appeal to the younger audience, which is drastically different from what it once was. Starting with a reference to the uber-popular movie ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’, he said, “This is Deepika Padukone. She is Amar. I am Shah Rukh Khan, i am Akbar. He is John. He is Anthony. This is what makes cinema, Amar Akbar and Anthony. There are no differences that any of us have for anybody, any culture, or any aspect of life. We love you. That’s why we make films. We love you for giving us, love. We are hungry for love… Since Anurag sat here, he said, “100 Crores, 200 crores, 500 crores, 1000 crores,” at least 18 times. How many ever crores it is, it doesn’t matter. When you watch our movie, you receive the love we’ve poured into it. You shower your love on us after watching the movie. That is what matters the most. There is no achievement bigger than that love. We have to keep our culture, our old stories, all that is seeped into the country. But we also have to tell stories in different ways. We are not deriding anybody. We are just trying to speak the language of the youngster, which has changed. (sic)”Check out the video below: Twitter
