At the pre-release press meet of ‘Chinna’, Siddharth became emotional when sharing about his film’s distribution woes in TeluguIn 2012, actor Siddharth had quite a tough time distributing his film ‘Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi’ in Telugu. He had to team up with a Telugu producer, Bellamkonda Suresh, to distribute the film and it was finally released as Love Failure in the language. At that time, Siddharth posted a tweet which read:“We grew up at a time when 4-5 films released together and if they were good, they did well. Today, big films release alone. Power talks! Every rule of the free market is being violated in film distribution today. This encourages bad cinema as it becomes financially justifiable. We have more screens in India today per sq. km than ever before, and yet 100s of films are doomed to never release because of politics! Everytime I meet a filmmaker with a completed film lying unreleased, it breaks my heart. The system is harshest on the most talented. Strange!”Unfortunately, the reality remains unchanged, maybe even worsened, for Siddharth as this time too the Telugu market didn't to be welcoming his when he tried distributing his acclaimed Tamil drama ‘Chiththa’, which is being hailed as the ‘Most Important Film of the Year’.At the pre-release press meet of Chiththa’s Telugu version, Siddharth became emotional while sharing about the distribution obstacles he faced in the Telugu market and expressed his gratitude to Asian Suneil for being the only one to come forward and buy the Telugu rights of his film. Speaking at the event, Siddharth said, “In Tamil Nadu, Red Giant Movies saw my film and praised it saying that they’ve never seen such a great film and Udayanidhi Stalin sir bought the Tamil rights. In Kerala, the state’s top distributor Gokulam Gopalan sir said that he had never seen such a film in his 55-year career and bought the Malayalam rights. In Karnataka, the producers of KGF (Hombale Films) watched the film, said the same and bought the Kannada rights…(the actor paused for a moment due to overwhelming emotion and continued in a trembling voice)... In Telugu, they said ‘who and why will they watch Siddharth’s film?’, so I replied saying that my audiences will watch if I make a good film.”“Chinna was supposed to release on September 28, but I couldn’t get the theatres as people thought the Telugu audiences won’t watch my film. So at that time, the person who came forward, stood by me and distributed my film is Asian Suneil garu,” Siddharth thanked the producer-distributor and concluded saying, “If you believe in cinema and if you love cinema, please go to the theatres and watch the film. After watching it, if it makes you feel that ‘we’ll not watch Siddharth’s film in Telugu’, then I will not hold anymore press meets and I will not come here again.”
