After repeated delays, Samantha and Dev Mohan starrer ‘Shaakuntalam’ to release this summer Gunasekhar directorial Shaakuntalam is a much-awaited mythological drama starring Samantha as the titular ‘Shakuntala’ and Dev Mohan as ‘Dushyant’. The movie was initially slated to release in November 2022 but was pushed to February 17, 2023. However, the makers, on 7 February, announced that the release was to be delayed yet again. Reportedly, the change was to avoid a clash with Karthik Aaryan-Kriti Sanon's ‘Shehzada’.Today, the fans’ wait came to an end as the movie got a new official release date. The pan-Indian film will grace the silver screen on April 14, 2023. Makers announced the news on social media along with a new poster featuring the entire star cast, including Mohan Babu, Jisshu Sengupta, Sachin Khedekar, Madhoobala, and Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha who is making her Tollywood debut with the upcoming movie. The two fall in love and get married. But tragedy soon strikes the couple, who are separated because of sage Durvasa’s (Mohan Babu) curse on ‘Shakuntala.’ Upon release, the movie will lock horns with Chiranjeevi starrer Bholaa Shankar which is a remake of the Tamil blockbuster ‘Vedalam’ starring Ajith Kumar, and Allari Naresh’s Ugram.
