Some of the biggest names in South-Indian films are locked in stiff competition with simultaneous releases - Ajith Kumar’s ‘Thunivu’ (Tegimpu in Telugu), Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Varisu’ (Vaarasudu in Telugu), Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy, Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya and Santosh Shobhan’s Kalyanam Kamaneeyam.According to the latest reports, the movies have already locked their OTT partners. Here are the reported digital streaming partners of all the Sankranti releases of the year.‘Tegimpu’ was the first big movie to hit the theatre screens this year. The streaming rights for the heist-thriller have apparently been acquired by Netflix. There is no information about when the movie will be available for streaming.‘Vaarasudu’ is slated to release on January 14. However, the Tamil version, ‘Varisu’, is currently in theatres. The movie will reportedly stream on Amazon Prime Video in April this year. ‘Veera Simha Reddy’ is the first Telugu movie to join the Sankranti race. The movie has officially been acquired by Disney+Hotstar. It is also the streaming partner for Balakrishna’s hit flick Akhanda. ‘Waltair Veerayya’, which was released in theatres today, is the second Telugu biggie to join the race. According to the opening credits, the movie’s streaming rights have been acquired by Netflix, an official date for the OTT release is not yet known. ‘Kalyanam Kamaneeyam’ is the only movie with a young hero to compete against some of the biggest names in the industry. Telugu streaming platform Aha has reportedly acquired the rights for the movie along with two more highly anticipated Telugu releases this year. The movie will release on January 14.
