Gunasekhar directorial mythological movie 'Shaakuntalam' to clash with 'Das Ka Dhamki' and 'Sir'Fans can’t keep calm as Samantha’s highly anticipated film Shaakuntalam has got a new release date. The makers announced the new release date alongside a brand-new poster. The film will hit the big screens on February 17 and will clash with Vishwak Sen’s Das Ka Dhamki and National award-winning actor Dhanush’s debut Telugu film Sir. Initially slated to release on November 4, the film was postponed citing that ‘Shaakuntalam’ will be developed as a 3D movie.Starring Samantha as ‘Shakuntala’ and Dev Mohan as ‘King Dushyantha’, ‘Shaakuntalam’ is a mythological, romantic drama helmed by Gunasekhar and is based on the popular play 'Abhijana Shakuntala' by Kalidasa. Interestingly, Allu Arjun's daughter Allu Arha is making her big screen debut with this film, playing the role of 'Bharata'.Samantha also shared the new poster and captioned it, “Witness the Epic Love Story #Shaakuntalam in theatres near you from Feb 17th 2023 Worldwide! Also in 3D.” Presented by Dil Raju, Shaakuntalam is produced by Gunasekhar’s daughter Neelima Guna who had earlier worked on the historical drama Rudhramadevi as well. Apart from the lead pair, the film also stars Kabir Bedi, Prakash Raj, Sachin Khedekar, in pivotal roles. The movie will simultaneously be released in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.
