“Salute To A Master,” Vishwanath’s Heroes Pay Tribute To Their Director

Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi, and Mammootty pen heartfelt notes to K Viswanath
‘Kalatapasvi’ K Viswanath passed away on Thursday night in Hyderabad. When the film fraternity is mourning the loss of the legendary filmmaker, Chiranjeevi, Kamal Haasan and Mammootty shared emotional tributes to their director. It is impossible to mention Viswanath’s influential filmography without mentioning his collaborations with the three superstars of South.
Kamal Haasan and Viswanath shared a close friendship and personal bond that they preserved long after their reel-life collaborations. In fact, the filmmaker started acting upon the insistence of Kamal Haasan. Viswanath made his acting debut in his directorial Subha Sankalpam, sharing screen space with his friend. The two further shared screen space in Drohi and Uttama Villain, but their relationship began with the legend behind the camera in Sagara Sangamam and Swathi Muthyam.
Today, February 3, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan took to his social media to share a moving tribute to ‘Kalatapasvi’ and wrote, Salute to a master . (sic).” Check out his note here:

Viswanath directed Megastar Chiranjeevi in three films Subhalekha, Swayamkrushi, Apadhbandhavudu. The two also shared screen space in the 2003 film Tagore. The actor described his relationship with the director as being similar to that of father-son. Chiru Tweeted, “Shocked beyond words! Shri K Viswanath ‘s loss is an irreplaceable void to Indian / Telugu Cinema and to me personally! Man of numerous iconic, timeless films! The Legend Will Live on! Om Shanti !! 🙏🙏(sic)”

Mammootty and Viswanath worked together in the 1992 film Swathi Kiranam. The movie marked Mammootty’s Telugu debut and won a National Film Award, a Nandi Award and a Filmfare Award South. Mammootty, took to his social media to express his at the loss. Check out the actor’s Tweet here:
