The movie has the potential to stir up emotions

Hindutva is the zeitgeist of the nation and movies catering to this emotion are being lapped up by the public. We’ve seen the kind of impact, Vivek Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’ has had on the nation. While the majority of audiences have praised the film for portraying the plight of the Kashmiri Pandits in a realistic manner, certain sections have taken umbrage suggesting that the movie is communally divisive. Emotions aside, the film made on a relatively modest budget of Rs 15 crore (approximately) has managed to become one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2022.

Now, with the nation gearing up for elections in a couple of years, a Telugu politician belonging to the ruling Party at the Centre, Gudur Narayana Reddy is funding a movie titled ‘Razakar’. It seeks to portray the humiliation and massacres suffered by the Hindus at the hands of the Razakars, a private militia of the Last Nizam of Hyderabad.

Apparently, the shooting of the movie is going on at a studio in the outskirts of Hyderabad. In an interview given to a leading English Daily, producer Narayana Reddy said, "The BJP only hopes the movie will help create a context about the Razakars, Operation Polo, the atrocities during the last days of the reign of the Nizam, and the heroic role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in bringing Hyderabad State into India."

He further added, “People will learn of the atrocities, like the episode of Gundrampally village, where over a hundred Hindu women drowned in a well to escape the marauders; an episode no less ghastly than the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.” Reddy is producing the film on his banner Samarveer Creations.
