The ban on filming will be lifted after executing a few decisions, suggest reports

After treading a path filled with ups and downs, the Telugu Film Industry seems to head back on track if the latest updates of the Active Telugu Film Producers Guild (ATFPG) are to be believed. The members of the Producers' Guild have conducted regular meetings in the past few days to arrive at a mutually beneficial decision, which will put an end to the ongoing crisis regarding numerous issues faced by the Telugu film industry.

According to the latest reports, vital decisions were taken for the betterment of the Telugu Film Industry. A period of 50 days has been set between theatrical release and the OTT release for the movies, meaning movies should only be streamed on OTT platforms after about eight weeks from the date a film hits the theatres.

Apart from the OTT vs Theatre issue, the Guild has also decided to revamp the remuneration criteria of actors by adapting to per-project basis payments to day-wise. Telugu film actors will receive fees for each project instead of the earlier payment methodology. In the previous payment model, the actor earned for the number of days he/she has worked on the project.

Further, multiplexes will cut down on the food and beverage charges while discussions are in progress regarding the ticket prices and the VPF charges. Virtual Print Fee (VPF) is a subsidy paid to theatres by producers to purchase digital cinema equipment.

Reports suggest that Telugu cinema shootings will begin shortly after the essential measures taken by the Guild materialise. Reportedly, shooting for Nani’s Dasara, his first pan-Indian film releasing in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi, has already commenced. Apart from ‘Dasara’, Gopichand Malineni-directorial ‘NBK107’, starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, will go on floors from August 24, suggest reports. The Producers' Guild will release further information regarding the decisions of the meeting in four days as per speculations.
