Makers release a trailer for ‘Shaakuntalam’ starring Samantha and Dev Mohan Gunasekhar directorial Shaakuntalam is a mythological romantic drama based on the classic ‘Abhijnanashakuntalam’. The original play was written by the playwright Kalidasa. It tells the story of ‘Shakuntala’ and ‘Dushyanta,’ the mythological couple separated because of a curse. Samantha and Dev Mohan play the lead couple in the movie.The trailer introduces the audience to ‘Shakuntala’ (Samantha), daughter of Sage ‘Vishwamitra’ and ‘Menaka,’ a celestial dancer. ‘Shakuntala’ is abandoned as an infant and adopted by ‘Rishi Kanva’ (Prakash Raj). A grown -up ‘Shakuntala’ meets king ‘Dushyant’ (Dev Mohan) while he is on a hunt. The two fall in love and get married. But tragedy soon strikes the couple, who are separated because of sage Durvasa’s (Mohan Babu) curse on ‘Shakuntala.’ How the two reunite forms the crux of the story.Watch the trailer below: ‘Shaakuntalam’ is the retelling of an ancient epic that explains how India came to be known as the ‘Land of Bharata’. In the movie, the role of prince ‘Bharata’ is essayed by Allu Arjun’s daughter Allu Arha. The movie marks her Tollywood debut. At the end of the trailer, a tiny glimpse of the little girl in full costume can be seen. ‘Shaakuntalam’ is slated for a release on February 17.
