Telugu film industry's seasoned actor, Kaikala Satyanarayana, passes away in the early hours of December 23

In the wee hours of December 23, veteran actor Kaikala Satyanarayana breathed his last. Owing to age-related medical conditions, Satyanarayana was admitted to a private hospital a few days ago and on Friday, he succumbed to the illness at the age of 87.

Kaikala had been suffering from health issues for some time now. The actor and former parliamentarian will be cremated at Mahaprasthanam in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. The news of his demise comes as another shocker to the Telugu Film Industry after the fraternity recently lost Superstar Krishna and Rebel star Krishnam Raju

Born in 1935, Kaikala Satyanarayana acted in over 800 movies in Telugu cinema. He made his film debut with DL Narayana’s Sipayi Kuthuru, for which he garnered critical acclaim. Soon after his debut, Kaikala began playing the body double for NT Ramarao due to their striking physical resemblance. He was even hailed as the one actor who came close to reminding the audience of the acting legend SV Ranga Rao.

Satyanarayana also had a short stint in politics when he joined Sr NTR's political party - TDP. However, the veteran artist bid adieu to politics in 1998.

After earning recognition as the antagonist in Kanaka Durga Pooja Mahima (1960), Satyanarayana became a household name and essayed groundbreaking roles for over five decades in Tollywood. The seasoned actor is also famously remembered for portraying various mythological roles in movies, such as Pandava Vanavaasam (1965), Sri Krishavataram (1967), Yamagola (1977), Ghatotkachudu (1995); acted in swashbuckling films such as Navagraha Pooja Mahima (1964), Vijaya Simha (1965), Chikkadu Dorakadu (1967); and played numerous memorable characters across genres and generations, such as Prem Nagar (1971), Chanda Sasanudu (1983), Rudraveena (1988), Mechanic Alludu (1993), Aahwanam (1997), Murari (2001), and more.

The legendary actor was last seen in the 2019 film Maharshi.
