Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar opened up about the criticism faced by Bollywood post the massive success of South films at the box-offices in the North Ever since SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’ became a success, there has been an avalanche of South Indian films that have rocked the Hindi film industry. Compounding Bollywood’s misery is straight Hindi films also failing to catch the attention of the domestic Hindi market. Bollywood producer, director and actor Karan Johar feels that the critics are especially harsh on Bollywood cinema compared to the South movies. Speaking to a tabloid, Karan expressed his opinion on how critics employ different yardsticks for Bollywood and South cinema. “I loved ‘KGF 2’. I loved it with all my heart but I feel that if we (Bollywood) had made this kind of film, we would’ve been lynched by the critics. I feel we are not getting any kind of leeway from critics and everyone else like how they are supporting and celebrating South cinema,” said Karan Johar.
