‘Shiva’ from the Anil Kumar Allla directorial is true to life
Santosh Shobhan made a name for himself with his compelling performances in social comedies Manchi Rojulochaie and Ek Mini Katha. Now the young actor is gearing up for his Sankranti release Kalyanam Kamaneeyam. Santosh is carving out a niche for himself in simple, light, urban romantic comedies, which are attracting audience who wants a fun watch. The actor recently interacted with media to talk about his upcoming movie ‘Kalyanam Kamaneeyam’.
“Kalyanam Kamaneeyam is an emotional and engaging drama. And we set out to make a film that valued silences,” Santosh continued talking about his previous characters and how they are different from ‘Shiva’ from ‘Kalyanam Kamaneeyam’, “I have been a part of comic capers and social comedies before and my characters in Like Share and Subscribe and Manchi Rojulochaie… are not genuine people; they want to put up a show and have the intention of deceiving others. Shiva, however, is honest. Not just in terms of my performance, but just as a person, he is pure and genuine.”
At a time when high-octane action films and thrillers are making it big in the theatres, ‘Kalyanam Kamaneeyam’ takes a completely different approach. About the difference Santosh remarked, “There are films that are aspirational and then there are films that are relatable. Ours is the latter kind… for the longest time in Telugu cinema, we have seen love stories end with a marriage. Our film starts from there and follows the couple’s journey.”
Kalyanam Kamaneeyam co-starring Priya Bhavani Shankar will release on January 14 and lock horns with other Sankranti biggies.
