Janhvi Kapoor remarks she is more Ayyappan than Kapoor and feels inclined toward mother Sridevi's South Indian cultureActress Janhvi Kapoor has time and again mentioned her inclination towards her south Indian roots. In a new interview, the actress reiterated she connects more with her mother’s South Indian culture than her father’s Punjabi side. Janhvi is the daughter of the late legendary actress Sridevi, and film producer Boney Kapoor.Janhvi also spoke about her mother’s films and said that even though it was the norm back in the day, it was definitely not okay for Sridevi to be paired opposite grown men when she was a teenager, and then with their sons just a few years later. Elaborating further, the actress said “She was 13 when she(Sridevi) was a heroine to the fathers, and she was 21 when she was heroine to the sons, It’s actually very wrong, but it’s how it was back then.” For the uninitiated, the iconic actress worked with legendary actor ANR in Muddula Koduku (1979) when she was 16, and shared screen space with ANR's son, King Nagarjuna in Aakhari Poratam (1988) at 25.She didn’t however, rule out being paired with an older male actor, herself. She said, “If it happens in life, and if it’s consensual, then art imitates life and life imitates art, so why not. And there are so many talented actors that I would… Even in Hindi, most of the actors I want to work with aren’t in my age bracket.”Describing herself as more Ayyappan than Kapoor, she said, "I feel an affinity, a comfort and a security in that environment. The minute I meet someone who’s South Indian, who has that accent, I feel automatically, This person I like the most, this person is my best friend."Not just personally, but on a professional front also the actress has shown her inclination toward south movies. The actress is on a spree of doing remakes of South Indian films such as ‘Milli’ which is a remake of the Malayalam film 'Helen', the black comedy drama ‘Good Luck Jerry’ which is a remake of ‘Lady Superstar’ Nayanthara’s ‘Kolamaavu Kokila’. In a recent interview too, Janhvi expressed her wish to work in South Indian movies, especially in Tollywood. She said that she hopes to work with Jr NTR soon and added that she is interested in actively pursuing a career in Telugu cinema.Janhvi made her acting debut with the film ‘Dhadak’ in 2018 which was released just a few months after Sridevi’s untimely death. Next year, she’ll be seen opposite Varun Dhawan (of Thodelu fame) in Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Bawaal’.Also Read: Janhvi Kapoor: We Are Scrutinised Not Just For Our Films Or Performances But Also On A Personal Level
