Ace composer Devi Sri Prasad on Waltair Veerayya title song
Chances are that if you’re a Telugu guy commuting to work, then you probably have the pulsating title song of megastar Chiranjeevi’s ‘Waltair Veerayya’ on loop. To date, the song has garnered more than 8 million views on you tube since release.
Music director Devi Sri Prasad spoke about the song in a recent media interaction. “I chose Anurag Kulkarni (singer) because I needed a very powerful voice with a grungy tone. I knew beforehand that this song was going to have tremendous lyrical value and had already made up my mind that only Chandra Bose (lyricist) could do justice to it. I had reserved the song for him. I needed a singer who could do justice to the pronunciation and was very fluent in Telugu,” said Devi Sri Prasad.
He further added, “I made Anurag sing in both a grungy tone and a rough tone. I then listened to both versions and mixed them to get the desired output. I thank my sound engineer Uday and other two sound engineers Kutti Uday and Suresh Kumar who worked day and night with me for the song and album. I am delighted that Anurag has done justice to the lyrics of Bose garu. The challenge was to come out with a composition that suited the film and matched Chiranjeevi garu’s stature as well. I’m glad we achieved that and I can guarantee goose bumps in the theatres.”
