Popular international publications such as New York Times and Variety covered the success of RRR and it's maker Rajamouli Baahubali, Baahubali 2 and now RRR! Filmmaker Rajamouli is scaling one summit after another with consummate ease especially given the gargantuan expectations surrounding each of his projects since ‘Baahubali’. In doing so, he has taken Indian cinema and especially Telugu cinema to a whole new dimension expanding the markets to hitherto unheard of places, in the process. With success comes name and fame, but Rajamouli was certainly not expecting the Western media to latch on to his latest project. “When Baahubali series did well, it took some time for the media outside the country to understand the numbers and then speak and write about the film. But it was a huge success in Japan and the media there gave it ample coverage, something I had never expected,” said Rajamouli. What he did not expect though was for prominent international publications such as 'New York Times' and 'Variety' to be writing about RRR and talking to him about it. “It took them a while to understand the scale of success of Baahubali films but with RRR, within four to five days of the release, they were actively writing about the movie and its success. I did not expect it at all. Also, we saw western actors and actresses and the media there tweeting about the film. That hasn’t happened before and that’s a huge positive,” said Jakkanna. Nicolas Rapold of NYT has reviewed the film and said "Scenes of glorious excess make the screen hum with energy in S.S. Rajamouli’s action epic", while an American film critic Joe Leydon of Variety told "Telugu Cinema Superstars N.T. Rama Rao Jr. and Ram Charan Shine in a Splendidly Exciting Epic" in his review. Rajamouli indeed turned the world's attention towards Telugu Cinema.
