Santosh Shobhan talks about the importance of Sankranti releases in his life and the ongoing festival releases race Kalyanam Kamaneeyam is perhaps the underdog in this year’s Sankranti race. Directed by debutant Anil Kumar Alla the movie is led by young actors Santosh Shobhan and Priya Bhavani Shankar, who are still relatively unknown in the industry. In a day, it will lock horns with some of the biggest releases of the year - Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy and Chiranjeevi-Ravi Teja starrer Waltair Veerayya. In a recent media interaction, Santosh opened up about being in the race with the likes of Megastar and Natasimham. Santosh said, “With the release of the movies of Chiranjeevi Garu and Balakrishna Garu, the Sankranthi festival has acquired a certain beauty at the box office. I am happy that my movie is also in the race alongside their movies. In every way, UV Creations has been there for me, just like a big, loving family.”Santosh is the son of Sobhan, who is well known for directing the movies Varsham and Bobby. Incidentally, ‘Kalyanam Kamaneeyam’, which is slated for release on January 14, has a connection to ‘Varsham’. “My film is releasing for Sankranti, 14 January, 20 years after my father’s film Varsham,” the actor added, “It went on to become a blockbuster, and I hope history will repeat itself.” After ‘Kalyanam Kamaneeyam’, Santosh has several projects in the pipeline, including Sridevi Shoban Babu, Prem Kumar, and the Nandini Reddy directorial Anni Manchi Sakunamule.
