Trisha, Chiyan Vikram, and Aishwarya Rai's ‘PS-2’ to clash with Mahesh Babu's 'SSMB28'
Mani Ratnam's magnum opus PS-1 was one of the highest-grossing films of the year. The film faced stiff competition from the Hrithik Roshan-Saif Ali Khan starrer ‘Vikram Vedha’. However, the Bollywood film had little impact on Ponniyin Selvan: 1's collections as the period drama minted close to Rs 500 crores worldwide.
Yesterday, (December 27), the makers informed fans about dropping a major update regarding the film today. The film stars an ensemble cast consisting of Trisha, Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Aishwarya Lekshmi. The Oscar-winning music maestro AR Rahman composed the soundtrack for the first instalment of the two-part series.
Makers of ‘Ponniyin Selvan: I’ have finally put an end to fans' long await of the sequel by announcing the release date of the historical epic. Lyca Productions confirmed that ‘PS-2’ aka ‘Ponniyin Selvan: II’ is scheduled to release on April 28, 2023. Along with unveiling a teaser clocking over 34 seconds, the production house wrote, “Let’s get those swords in the air as we await the 28th of April 2023! (sic).” Check out their Tweet below
Just like its prequel, the film will witness yet another box office clash. ’PS 2’ will release alongside the highly anticipated Trivikram directorial SSMB28, starring Mahesh Babu and Pooja Hegde in the lead role. Interestingly, Mahesh Babu’s hit film Pokiri was also released on the same date.
