During the promotions of Acharya, Megastar Chiranjeevi narrated an interesting incident from the first day of his shoot for 'Punadhirallu', which serves as an important acting lesson As a part of the promotional rounds for the upcoming film Acharya, director Harish Shankar had interviewed the team (Chiranjeevi, Koratala Siva, Ram Charan) in the town of 'Dharmasthali'. As the interview progressed, Harish Shankar brought up an interesting glimpse from one of Chiranjeevi's previous film, Kondaveeti Donga. He recalled the actor's act from the film, where in the song "Subhalekha Rasukunna", when the shot focus was on the lead actress Radha and Chiranjeevi had to walk with his back facing the camera, and towards the actress, which is essentially termed as the back shot. Instead of simply walking, he pushes back the collar of his shirt and grabs the viewers' attention even when he was not facing the camera, which enabled the audience to look at Chiranjeevi as much as Radha, in the shot. Continuing on that reminiscence and praising the actor's unique ability to stand out in the crowd, Harish Shankar asked Chiranjeevi whether he did something similar in Acharya when he and Ram Charan appeared together in the same frame? Spending over 40 years of life in cinema, the accomplished actor shared a small anecdote from his professional journey that truly holds value for the next generation of aspiring actors. Megastar recalled the first day of shoot - February 11, 1978 - of his very first film titled 'Punadhirallu'. "That was the first time I faced the camera after the institute and I wasn't sure what to do. We had a scene where Mahanati Savitri had to serve food for five of us, and I felt very awkward just standing there. Before the second take, I went to the AD and asked him what was the previous scene. He said it was a scene where we do some harvesting in a farm and return home. So I immediately went and took some hay and sprinkled it all over myself, so that when I enter the house I can do the act of dusting off the hay instead of just standing there, thus bringing continuity to the scene. Cameraman PS Nivas observed this behaviour of mine and appreciated that attribute of having a presence of mind. And this stayed with me for long," shared Chiranjeevi and said "I did the same in Acharya. The intention to stand out or dominate was never there". It is that endless endeavour to give the best in portraying any character as it is, that drove Chiranjeevi to become a Megastar. Aspiring actors! please take note.
