Actor Vishal put out a tweet and released a video alleging corruption at the Central Board of Film CertificationOn September 28, actor Vishal posted a video on ‘X’ alleging corruption at CBFC’s office in Mumbai and stated that he was forced to pay Rs 6.5 Lakh for the Hindi version of his recent release Mark Antony. He also tagged the CM of Maharashtra, Mr Eknath Shinde, and the Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi, bringing the issue to their notice. Soon, the IB Ministry took action to initiate an inquiry into the actor’s allegations.In his tweet, Vishal wrote, “#Corruption being shown on silver screen is fine. But not in real life. Cant digest. Especially in govt offices. And even worse happening in #CBFC Mumbai office. Had to pay 6.5 lacs for my film #MarkAntonyHindi version. 2 transactions. 3 Lakhs for screening and 3.5 Lakhs for certificate. Never faced this situation ever in my career. Had no option but to pay the concerned mediator #Menaga coz too much at stake since movie released today. Bringing this to the notice of Hon Chief Minister of Maharashtra and my Hon PM Narendra Modiji. Doing this is not for me but for future producers. NOT HAPPENING. My hard earned money gone for corruption ??? No way. Evidence down for all to hear. Hope truth prevails as always. GB (sic).”Vishal also shared the details of the bank accounts into which the amounts were deposited, and urged the higher authorities to take immediate action. Within 24 hours, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting cognised the issue and termed the incident as ‘extremely unfortunate’. They tagged the actor and informed that a senior officer from the Ministry has been deputed to conduct an inquiry into the matter. Twitter Seeking the cooperation of everyone, including the Producers Guild of India and the Motion Picture Association, the IB Ministry has asked people to report any other instance of harassment by CBFC at jsfilms.inb@nic.in
