Balakrishna’s Blockbuster To Release In Hindi

The Telugu blockbuster ‘Akhanda’ will hit the theatres once again, but in a Hindi dubbed version

Nandamuri Balakrishna bagged his career-best blockbuster with the 2021 flick Akhanda. The action drama, helmed by Boyapati Srinu, featured Balayya in a dual role and mesmerised audiences and critics, alike. A year later, following its theatrical release in December 2021, the Telugu blockbuster is all set for a Hindi release. ‘Akhanda’ will release in the Hindi belt in partnership with the leading production house - Pen Studios. Apparently, the Hindi trailer will release tomorrow at 12 PM, while the film will hit the big screens on January 20.

The background scores composed by S Thaman have stayed relevant to date and remain chartbusters. Tipped to be the biggest budgeted movie in the career of Balakrishna, ‘Akhanda’ emerged as the second-highest grosser of 2021 in Tollywood and the highest-grosser for NBK in his career spanning over four decades. 

Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studios has created a niche by acquiring the Hindi theatrical rights of South films. In 2022, the production house purchased the theatrical rights of movies of South origins that made it to the list of top highest-grossing films of the year, which include; RRR, Vikram: Hitlist, Sita Ramam, and PS-1 aka ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. Apart from the rights of ‘Akhanda’, it is confirmed that Pen Studios also acquired the theatrical rights to Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus PS-2 aka ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’. Reports of the Pen Studios acquiring the Hindi rights to the Suriya-Disha Patani starrer Suriya42 recently surfaced. Check out the ‘Also Read’ column below to know more about it.
