SP Charan sang "Oh Sita, Hey Rama" in Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur's upcoming film 'Sita Ramam'
Legendary singer SP Balasubramanyam’s demise has left a void that cannot be filled. Yet, his son SP Charan, an accomplished singer himself has taken up the job of continuing his father’s legacy in all humility and grace.
Charan lent his voice for "Oh Sita, Hey Rama", the first single from Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur’s Sita Ramam. Composed by Vishal, the song was written by Ananth Sriram. Speaking about his experience of singing for the song, SP Charan said, “I’m a big fan of Dulquer Salman. When I heard that I would be singing for him, I hoped to render it in the Tamil version too and was glad to get the opportunity. I was a bit disappointed though at missing out on the Malayalam version because it is Dulquer’s mother tongue”.
He further added, “It wasn’t an easy song. I liked the melody and the ‘Pallavi’, so I wanted to try it with a beautiful temp. It came off well”. Although Charan is on a first-name basis with most of the current crop of composers in the film industry, he still prefers music from the retro-era and songs composed and sung by his father.
