‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’ and ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ complete three years since their theatrical release
The Telugu Film Industry has been at the forefront of Indian Cinema of late. With magnanimous blockbusters such as RRR and Pushpa: The Rise, Tollywood has risen and delivered on a par with the expectations of moviegoers. Nevertheless, there have been blockbusters whose success was limited to the Telugu States alone due to the language barrier. Two such Tollywood blockbusters have completed three years since their theatrical release; Sarileru Neekevvaru and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo.
‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’, starring Mahesh Babu and Rashmika Mandanna, was helmed by Anil Ravipudi and was jointly bankrolled by Sri Venkateswara Creations, G Mahesh Babu Entertainment and AK Entertainments. The action comedy opened to decent reviews and soon, emerged as a box office blockbuster. ‘Major Ajay Krishna’ (Mahesh Babu), a gutsy Indian Army Officer, decides to travel to Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool to fulfil his comrade’s responsibilities. However, he finds them in a serious problem and how he saves them from the enemy forms the crux of the plot.
With Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde essaying the lead roles, the Trivikram Srinivas-directorial ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’ was an instant box office success. The action drama, layered with romance, comedy, and so forth, mesmerised the audiences in theatres with its captivating plot and a star cast that includes Samuthirakani, Jayaram, Tabu, Sushanth, and Murali Sharma, among others. The plot revolves around ‘Bantu’ (Allu Arjun), who grows up seeking validation from an unloving father ‘Valmiki’ (Murali Sharma). Despite being skilled and savvy, ‘Bunty’ is always put down at every step of his life by ‘Valmiki’. However, things change when ‘Bunty’ discovers his actual parentage and carves a plan to be a part of his actual family.
